Adapting to a new generation of golfers

Srixon was generous enough to give a very few select 2017 Srixon Ambassadors the opportunity to see what it’s like inside their PGA Tour van this year.  Brian Mann shares his experiences down in Texas.

One of the more overlooked parts of golf is the actual ball itself. Can a golf ball have such a drastic effect on your game? Of course it can!

Launched in 2016, Nextgengolf’s Srixon and Cleveland Golf Ambassador Program is designed to help celebrate our relationship with one of the top golf brands in the country.

A lot has changed in the NCCGA since 2013. 100’s of new college now have club golf teams, tournaments have gotten larger and more professionally run, and the club golf footprint has expanded internationally into Canada with two schools from up north joining last season.

One thing that hasn't changed over the last four years has been the support of Srixon and Cleveland Golf.

We're always hearing from players in the NCCGA and City Tour tournaments that the Srixon Z-Star and Z-Star XV balls they receive are the best balls they have ever played. With the inaugural Srixon/Cleveland Golf Ambassador program coming to a close, where players from across the country played the equipment all year, it’s a perfect time to reflect on just how great the clubs are as well.

The Cleveland Golf and Srixon Ambassador program has been a blast to be a part of this year.  I have been using the Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball for the last several years along with Cleveland wedges, but this was my first opportunity to try out any of their other clubs.

There is so much talk today about being FIT for golf equipment. With the advent of Trackman, Flightscope, and even motion capture, today’s golfer scoffs at the idea of buying a set of golf clubs ‘off the rack’. I get this. I understand it. I am employed by a golf equipment manufacturer that believes in the value of equipment being fit properly to the average player. But, I want to talk about that process.

The shot that keeps you coming back.

Coming out of high school, I could guarantee I was a lot like many other junior golfers, an above average high school player who just did not have that edge to play at the Division 1 level. I still wanted to be competitive with golf though, as well as go to a large school. Flash forward 2 years and I am a sophomore at Virginia Tech, NCCGA Regional Ambassador, Vice President of the Club Golf team, but more importantly a Srixon Golf Ambassador.

Over this past winter, I paid the Nextgengolf team a visit at their office in Boston. After talking through logistical items for a while, they hit me with the idea that they were discussing having Regional Ambassador’s become ambassadors for Srixon Golf and Cleveland. I jumped on this opportunity, mostly because I needed a new golf bag.
