Having to endure cold temperatures and wet course conditions, the college golf club players were dealt a tough hand as the rolling hills of Birdsfoot left minimal opportunities to score. Playing at the lengthy 6,703 yard setup, a slope of 134 and a rating of 72, Birdsfoot hosted the following seven college golf club teams: [University of Delaware](http://www.udel.edu/), [Duquesne University](http://www.duq.edu/), Robert Morris, Penn State, University of Pittsburgh, and SUNY Buffalo. This was the first college golf club regional tournament since the region known formerly as the Northeast divided in two, forming the New England region and the new Northeast region that consists of schools from Delaware to Western Pennsylvania. Day one brought many challenges for the field of 51 players from around the Northeast region. Players dealt with temperatures hovering just above 40 degrees, and wet course conditions as they moved through the course woven into the rolling hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Senior Matt Lombardi of Delaware held the individual lead after one round, holding a three shot lead headed into the final round after carding a 74 on Saturday. Matt Milana (Pitt), Spencer Kuhn (Pitt), and Robert Anderson (Delaware) were locked in a tie for second place at 77 after the first 18 holes. The final round of play on Sunday brought even colder temperatures for players, as play did not start until 10:30 am due to a short frost delay. Once play was under way, Delaware held the over ten shot advantage for the remainder of the tournament. Lombardi and teammate Robert Anderson led the way, shooting 79 and 76 respectively and tying for the top spot overall on the weekend. Lombardi’s 35 on the back nine Sunday broke the tiebreaker and he was awarded the medalist honors. Penn State’s John Peterson recorded the low round of the weekend on Sunday, posting a 73 to pair with his 81 on Saturday. The total score of 154 earned him sole possession of third place. The University of Pittsburgh finished in a distant second, as a pair of Sunday 79’s from Spencer Kuhn and Matt Milana led the way. Buffalo finished third in the tournament and earned one point towards Nationals qualifying. The All College Golf Club Tournament Team finished as follows: Lombardi (+9), Anderson (+9), Peterson (+10), Milana (+12), Kuhn (+12), Mike Zupi (+12), Mason Short (+12), and Bryan Basciani (+13). A special thank you goes out to the staff at Birdsfoot for hosting us, and for all the work they put in to prepare the course for the field. Regional #2 is scheduled on April 6-7 at the [Bedford Springs Old Course](http://www.omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/bedfordsprings.aspx).   ### Subscribe to stay up to date Previous article [Sean Heintzelman College Golf Interview](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/college-golf/sean-heintzelman-college-golf-interview) Next article [Delaware College Golf Doubles Up at Bedford Springs](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/college-golf/delaware-college-golf-doubles-up) --- ### Popular Posts National Partners ![Srixon](https://nextgengolf.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/srixon_logo_md.png) ![Cleveland](https://nextgengolf.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/cleveland_logo_md.png) - [About](https://nextgengolf.org/about-us/) - [Our Story](https://nextgengolf.org/about-us/) - [Golf Jobs Board](https://nextgengolf.org/job-board/) - [Press](https://nextgengolf.org/press/) - [Sponsors](https://nextgengolf.org/nextgengolf-sponsors/) - [Private Policy](https://nextgengolf.org/privacy-policy/) - [Terms of Use](https://nextgengolf.org/terms-of-use/) - [Tournaments](https://nextgengolf.org/app/find-golf-tournaments) - [College Rankings](https://nextgengolf.org/app/golf-tournaments/team-rankings/62-spring-2020) - [NCCGA National Championship](https://nextgengolf.org/fall-2020-national-championship/) - [College Tournaments](https://nextgengolf.org/app/golf-tournaments/schedule/fall-2020) - [Tournaments for 21+ golfers](https://nextgengolf.org/city-tour/) - [City Tour Championship](https://nextgengolf.org/2020-city-tour-championship-kiawah-island-resort/) - [High School Tournaments](https://www.highschoolgolf.org/) - [Golfer Resources](https://nextgengolf.org/blog/) - [Golf Equipment deals](https://nextgengolf.org/golf-equipment-deals-nextgengolf-members/) - [Golf Stories](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/) - [Find Indoor Golf Facilities](https://nextgengolf.org/app/find-indoor-golf-facilities) - [Find Driving Ranges](https://nextgengolf.org/app/find-driving-ranges) - [Find Golf Discounts](https://nextgengolf.org/best-golf-discounts-in-each-state/) - [Get a Golf Handicap](https://nextgengolf.org/where-to-get-a-golf-handicap/) - [Golf Industry Resources](https://nextgengolf.org/golf-course-owners/) - [PGA Pro Recognition](https://nextgengolf.org/pga-professional-recognition/) - [Host an NCCGA Tournament](https://nextgengolf.org/host-an-nccga-tournament/) - [Host a City Tour Tournament](https://nextgengolf.org/host-a-city-tour-tournament/) - [Marketing Guides](https://nextgengolf.org/golf-course-marketing-guides/) - [Tournament Volunteering](https://nextgengolf.org/nccga-tournament-volunteering/) - [Becoming a Sponsor](https://nextgengolf.org/sponsorship-for-millennial-golf/) ![nextgengolf-white-logo.png](https://nextgengolf.org/wp-content/themes/theme46788/images/nextgengolf-white-logo.png "nextgengolf-white-logo.png") 55 Court St, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02108 ![bullet](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/orange-bullet.png) (617) 453-8732 ![bullet](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/orange-bullet.png) info@nextgengolf.org [![Instagram](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/instagram.png?width=42&name=instagram.png "Instagram")](http://instagram.com/nextgengolfclub) [![LinkedIn](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/linkedin.png?width=42&name=linkedin.png "LinkedIn")](https://www.linkedin.com/company/nextgengolf-inc) [![Facebook](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/facebook.png?width=42&name=facebook.png "Facebook")](https://www.facebook.com/nextgengolfclub) [![Twitter](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/twitter.png?width=42&name=twitter.png "Twitter")](https://twitter.com/nextgolfer) 55 Court St, 5th Floor Boston, MA 02203 (617) 453-8732 info@nextgengolf.org [![Instagram](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/instagram.png)](http://instagram.com/nextgengolfclub) [![LinkedIn](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/linkedin.png)](https://www.linkedin.com/company/nextgengolf-inc) [![Facebook](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/facebook.png)](https://www.facebook.com/nextgengolfclub) [![Twitter](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/twitter.png)](https://twitter.com/nextgolfer) [![Facebook](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/facebook.png)](https://www.facebook.com/nextgengolfclub) [![Twitter](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/twitter.png)](https://twitter.com/nextgolfer) [![Instagram](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/instagram.png)](http://instagram.com/nextgengolfclub) [![LinkedIn](https://blog.nextgengolf.org/hubfs/Images/linkedin.png)](https://www.linkedin.com/company/nextgengolf-inc)
