Multiple women headed to NCCGA Nationals

By Meghan Zech

There will be three women competing in the Nationals tournament this weekend. Along with Melissa Yao and Emma Vickery from Cal-Berkeley, Claire Malley will be attending and representing UCLA. Malley is currently a junior majoring in biology with a minor in classical civilizations and is originally from Fresno, California.

It's awesome to be able to still be competitive but just play at a more relaxed level so I can focus on my studies," says Malley.

Ranked 6th overall in the NCCGA, Malley has been competing in NCCGA tournaments for three years. At the end of her freshman year she received the MVP title for breaking the record for the lowest score in the NCCGA with a 5 under round.

The NCCGA has given me the chance to shoot some of my lowest tournament scores and stay in the game of golf, which I really appreciate."  We look forward to seeing Claire Malley play this weekend, and potentially becoming the first female National Champion.
