Entering the weekend, not many people gave the Georgia Club Golf team a chance to win. Despite entering the NCCGA National Championship as the defending champions, the Bulldogs had lost both regional tournaments, were ranked #58, and were only bringing 7 people to Hot Springs Country Club. The odds and momentum were stacked against them.

The main concern entering Round 1 of the 2017 Spring NCCGA National Championship was pretty simple: Would 18 holes be possible? The weather forecast looked rough, with calls for rain and thunderstorms starting in the early afternoon. At the end of the day everyone was not only able to play 18 holes, but the sun was even a participant for a little while, with rain intermittently.

Spartans Back at Nationals as Wildcard

The Michigan State club golf team will be making their first trip to the NCCGA National Championship since Spring 2015 at Bryan Park, after a strong performance this semester that concluded with two 2nd place finishes and an average team score of 384.

Entering regional #2 at the Michigan State home course, the Spartans were in a prime position to lock up the automatic bid with a win, after losing by just 1 stroke the weekend before. During the week leading up to the tournament, Mother Nature took action and dropped more than 5 inches of snow.
