City Tour Championship - Day 2: A Winner Is Crowned

City Tour Championship - Day 2: A Winner Is Crowned

By Ethan

After a soggy and eventful day 1, that saw the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club yield some low scores, you knew it would get interesting on day 2 after the courses had some time to dry out. The field of 92 players from across the country were going to need to go low to catch the team of Slice and Dice from Cincinnati, who opened play with a 131 (-13) on the Ravines (No. 2) course. Giving chase after day 1 were Shooter Magowan and Tin Cup.

City Championship - Day 1 Recap

City Championship - Day 1 Recap

By Ethan

What an awesome first day for the City Tour National Championship at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club! After some torrential rain passed through the Chicago area Friday afternoon/evening the Ravines and Dubsdread courses were ripe for some low first round scores. Ideal scoring conditions arrived Saturday morning, and remained throughout the day for the 14 teams from across the country competing to be crowned the inaugural City Tour Champions.

The Future of Golf Is Now

Wow. What a great last couple of weekends. And I’m not just talking about the PGA Championship. Both tours (PGA and LPGA) had amazing tournaments, and the City Tour saw some great play in its final weekend. Since I believe chivalry isn’t dead (just on life-support) I’m going to start with the women.

The Ultimate Golf Pace of Play Guide

The Ultimate Golf Pace of Play Guide

By Ethan

If there is one thing we can all agree on, it's that a slow pace of play is the worst. Whether it's a casual round at your local golf course, or a competitive NCCGA/City Tour event, the last thing anyone wants to do is be on the course for 6 hours. It's not just a problem for our events, it's a recurring issue on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and the NCAA. In fact, three pace of play penalties were awarded at the 2015 NCAA D1 Men's Golf Championship in May. What can you do to play faster? Here's 10 common sense tactics we should all follow.

Atlanta Golfer Records 62 in Wild City Tour Weekend

By Ethan

Wow! Something must have been in the water on Sunday because scores across the board were looooooooooooow. In fact, we wanted to give a special shout-out to Ben Fogler (Atlanta City Tour) for shooting the lowest round in Nextgengolf history; a simply scintillating scorching 62 (Par 72). A round that featured three birdie-birdie-birdie streaks. Bravo Ben! We also saw a course record tied in Cincinnati, and a new city debut on the West Coast. Let’s check out some other highlights from this past weekend.

The Open Championship Preview - Old Course at St. Andrews

After the first two majors of 2015 the billboard outside an old-timey movie theater in St. Andrews should probably read: Welcome To The Jordan Speith Show! Who would argue with those words in lights after Speith captured wins in Augusta and Tacoma? Probably only Jordan who with his humble, wise-beyond-his-years nature would seemingly prefer not to draw attention to himself. Which is kind of tough to do when you just keep winning. A problem all professional golfers probably wish they had.
