Adapting to a new generation of golfers

Keegan Bradley Charity Classic

By Oliver Mauk

Woodstock Country Club was the host of the annual Keegan Bradley Charity Classsic. Bradley is originally from the Woodstock, Vermont area, and hosts this tournament every year to support pediatric cancer research.

Bradley and his PGA Tour buddies, Jamie Lovemark and Brendan Steele, all attended just a few days before the Dell Technologies Championship at TPC Boston.

The day started with a question and answer segment from the Tour players. They did this as they hit balls, discussing their golf games and how they find success. Steele explained how he plays a draw and how he combats that when he needs to shape the ball the other way. Lovemark ripped an iron off the putting green without making a single mark on the surface. The whole show was very impressive, and ended with everyone heading to their starting holes.

We played an 18 hole scramble on the beautiful course at Woodstock Country Club. The course meanders through a valley in between the mountains of Vermont. The leaves were just starting to turn colors, and the views from the course were spectacular.

Bradley, Steele, and Lovemark came around and took pictures with all the groups. We got ours taken on the par 3 6th, where I hit a shot to about 15 feet and got complemented by Lovemark. It was really great to see them be so personable and I really enjoyed hanging with them, even if only for a few minutes.

Thanks to Mike Dunphy and the Srixon / Cleveland Golf staff for a great day. It’s because of everything that they do that we are able to attend these kind of events, promote millennial golf, and help a worthy cause.

Best of luck to Bradley, Lovemark, and Steele in their pursuit of a FedExCup Championship the next three weeks.
