8 regions will compete this week, with some potential upsets and unpredictable weather in the mix. Hopefully everyone enjoyed their spring breaks as well! We’ll see if playing in the Spring Break Open at The Legends Golf Resort these last 2 weeks will give some players an edge this weekend. The North Florida and Southeast regions wrap up their seasons this week, as teams look to solidify their positioning for Nationals in St. Louis!
Central
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, IL will be the host for this week's tournament in what hopes to be a very competitive one. With only 5 teams competing there is no clear favorite as most teams ended last season close in the rankings. However, keep an eye out for Missouri-Columbia, Missouri State and Kansas to be atop the leaderboard this week!
Colonial
This weekend’s tournament at Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg will be a battleground. The Cavaliers, Hokies, and Flames will all come in too close to call for a clear favorite. However, keep an eye out for the Royals, Spiders, and Kangaroos from behind.
Mountain
The mountain region kicks off their spring season this week at the Courses at Hyland Hills. Colorado State will be representing well as they are bringing both an A and B team to compete against the other Colorado schools. The forecast looks perfect in Westminster,CO for the weekend and should make for a great week of golf.
North Carolina
The North Carolina region will be competing at Country Club of Whispering Pines. Beautiful course and lots of risk, reward opportunities. Anyone can take away the dub this weekend, but expect the Seahawks to come out on top with the Pheonixes (Odyssey is a large group of Pheonixes) and Rameses coming in contention.
North Florida
Time for the second tournament of the season for the North Florida region. The Gators pulled out an impressive win the first time around. The tournament is hosted by Walt Disney World Golf Courses. Perhaps knowing the layouts of these courses from Fall 2016 Nationals will produce some low scores. Buckle up for some head to head combat between the Gators and Seminoles with the Hatters showing up for a ride.
Southeast
South Carolina came out on top a few weeks ago in a hard fought battle for the first regional tournament and is looking for the sweep this week at Farmstead and Meadowlands Golf Club in Calabash, NC. Rival Clemson along with Golf Academy-Myrtle Beach and Georgia Southern have other plans. Watch the Southeast region closely this week as it will be a battle ground to see who will be making the trip to St. Louis for the National Championship and National Invitational.
South
Chateau Elan Golf Club will host this weeks tournament as the South region begins their quest to get to St. Louis in hopes of winning a National Championship. The field is packed this week as you have the 2 time National Champion Georgia along with Alabama who had a very impressive performance at Nationals in the fall. Other teams such as Auburn, Kennesaw State, Tennessee, Mercer, Emory and Georgia Tech will also be competing this weekend and keep a close eye on this one as it will be a battle to see who will claim the first victory of the 2018 season
Twin Cities
Take a look at the map in the Twin Cities region and tell me you don’t think there’s going to be a good amount of miles driven this weekend en route to Platteview Country Club. The regional champs from last season, the Gophers, might experience a little leveling of the playing field as the Bluejays have the course in their backyard. We’ll see if the travel disparities have an effect.
