So when a team accomplishes a feat like qualifying for the NCCGA National Championship, a celebration is in order. The University of Iowa emerged victorious in Twin Cities Regional No. 2 and in the process became the first team to pick up an automatic bid for the NCCGA National Tournament on Nov. 15-16 at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. \[button text="National Championship Information" link="https://nextgengolf.org/fall-2014-nccga-national-championship-dancing-rabbit-golf-club/" style="default" size="normal" target="\_self" display="inline" icon="info-sign"\] The University of Michigan, national champions last fall, and Baylor already hold automatic bids based on previous national championships won. Congrats to Iowa and UConn's Mike Thibodeau on being named the NCCGA National Team and Player of the Week, respectively. Truly the best in non-varsity golf this week. ## **Twin Cities Region** More on the Twin Cities from RC Chris Roebber: Iowa Club Golf President Michael Phillips on the win: “I was very impressed with how the A and B teams performed. It’s going to be tough narrowing it down to eight guys to take to nationals. #RoadToRabbit.” The low score came in from Nick Adduce on Iowa’s B team, shooting a 74 on day one and 72 on day two. “I feel the course really set up well for me. I was seeing the greens well both days and the putter was hot,” Adduce said. ## **Capitol Region** More on the Capitol Region from RC Sean Keane: The first regional tournament for the Capitol Region was held at Greystone Golf Course in White Hall, MD. Going into the event there was a threat of rain but we had clear skies both days. The biggest issue was fighting darkness. On day one, we had to have the final few groups finish in impending darkness - 2014 PGA Championship style. Scores were high on day one with only one round in the 70s. The course played long with strong winds and tough pin locations. On day two, scores were much improved despite prevailing winds and the same difficult pin locations. Jimmy Wolfe led the way for Georgetown shooting 72. Wolfe won Medalist honors and the Georgetown team placed first as a team. Maryland finished in second place and Towson was close behind in third. We thank Greystone for their much-needed assistance during the event and their support of our NCCGA event. ## **Southern New England Region** Providence College performed extremely well over the weekend, picking up three nationals qualifying points with a 45-stroke victory over the second place team (UConn). The individual performers in Southern NE were stellar with Providence’s James Ferullo and Michael Thidodeau carding 36-hole scores of 3-under par, 139. ## **Southeast Region** The Southeast region saw some unusually high scores for a region that is historically one of the NCCGA’s best. PCGG: Hilton Head’s 14-stroke improvement on day two locked them into a tie with Clemson and ahead of Georgia. Clemson’s Cedric Vanwassenhove took Medalist honors with a 76-75 to win by four strokes. ## **North Carolina Region** Campbell University took care of business in the North Carolina Region, with a combined nine rounds in the 70s over two days of play from Robby Fenton, DJ Matthews, John Sheehan and Ben Gibson. NC State President Zac Lewis led the way individually with two rounds of even-par, 72. ## **Philadelphia Region** Villanova took the crown in the first ever Regional Tournament in the Phildadelphia Region over the weekend at Inniscrone Golf Club. The University of Delaware, former Atlantic Region champions, finished slotted in second with St. Joe’s, Delaware (B) and Villanova (B). ## **Colonial Region** James Madison ousted defending champion Virginia Tech by 13 strokes at Hanging Rock Golf Club. JMU’s Zack Henry took Medalist honors after a stellar 71 on Saturday followed by a final round 79. Play in the Colonial will resume on Nov. 1 at Colonial Heritage Golf Club. ## **New England Region** Boston College beat Boston College. I’ll say that again. Boston College’s A squad beat the B squad by 51 strokes in the New England Region. RC Conor McCormack led the pack of 8 Eagles named to the All-Tournament Team with rounds of 72 and 76. C.J. Konkowski, a senior at UNH who played in the U.S. Amateur Public Links this summer, finished third overall with rounds of 77 and 79. \[button text="Read Konkowski's Story" link="https://nextgengolf.org/college-golf/new-hampshires-konkowski-finishes-splendid-summer-golf/" style="default" size="normal" target="\_self" display="inline" icon="no"\] ## **Florida Region** Fresh off an appearance at the NCCGA National Tournament at Crystal Springs, Florida’s top individuals lifted them to another tournament win. President Laura Kanouse led the way in scoring for Florida with rounds of 77 and 73.
