Hoyas Club Golf Find Repeat Success

The Georgetown University club golf team has come a long way since its creation only three years ago. After a slow start, struggling to recruit motivated players and play competitively, the team gained momentum in its fourth season and has been improving ever since. Club President Sean O’Neill attributes this progress to the creation of a “competitive but fun environment, where players are motivated to play as well as they can in every round of golf.”

Gamecocks Club Golf Confident Ahead of TPC

It was late October, a couple weeks before the University of South Carolina club golf team's second NCCGA regional tournament when club president Evan Rodwell made a risky decision. He and his teammates bought plane tickets to San Antonio for the weekend of November 21st-22nd. The Gamecocks had not yet qualified for the Fall 2015 National Championship., as the second regional tournament wasn't for another two weeks. Rodwell was concerned if they waited until after the second tournament to book flights that they would be too expensive, so he decided to take the risk and make the purchase.

UCONN looks to continue winning tradition in Texas

The University of Connecticut athletic teams have good memories in the state of Texas. In 2014 the men’s basketball team became the kings of March Madness by winning their fourth NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship in Texas. This weekend, the UConn club golf team travels to Texas to compete in the NCCGA National Championship at TPC San Antonio. They hope to continue the Husky tradition and leave Texas as champions.

The Midwest Region had an excellent finish to the last regional tournament of the 2015 NCCGA season with a tight battle between Ferris State University, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University. Although the tournament was short sided with one day completely canceled due to weather, the Midwest Region still played some great golf.

Gators Reign Supreme, Golf Academy Runner-Up

The second regional for the NCCGA North Florida Region was played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida. The conditions were great for scoring as shown by UF Club Golf's Josh Dubberly’s opening round 68 and Blake Herschberger’s 2nd round 69 as well as a lot of other good scores from all of the teams that were there. Blake Herschberger’s second round 69 propelled him to a 2 stroke win over teammate Josh Dubberly for the medalist honors.

The Capitol Region enjoyed another competitive NCCGA tournament last weekend at Greystone Golf Course in White Hall, Maryland to close out the semester. Led by individual medalist Michael Barillo, the Maryland club golf team took home the team championship with a 2 day total of 799. Georgetown followed close behind with an 809 to take 2nd, and Towson rounded out the top 3 with an 817. The top 8 individuals were as follows:
