10 Ways to Improve your Golf Game this Winter

During the winter time, golfing outdoors can become limited. Maybe it's feet of snow on the ground, or a wind chill so brutal your entire face is covered in a scarf. Whatever the reason, it's during these times we must come up with creative ways to work our way around it and keep improving our game. I mean, we're not gonna stop golfing just because of a little cold weather, are we? And if the courses won't cooperate by staying open with snow on the ground, we're on our own.

Here are 10 ways to improve your golf game this winter. Hope they help you and your game during the current and future winter seasons.

1. Chip and putt at home

A great way to chip and putt at home, providing there is carpet available, would be in your own living room or hallway while placing a coffee mug as a hole. Of course, the carpet at home will not be as fast as actual greens, however, it can allow you to get a feel of things and remain in touch with your short game.

2. Hit the gym

Whether it is lifting weights or working on cardio, core strength is vital. While playing golf, it can help you find the strength to hit out of tough positions on the course such as heavy rough and also make it easier for you to be able to walk the course while carrying your own golf bag for 18 holes.

3. Take some yoga classes

We all know that the mental aspect of golf is extremely important. It is said that the state of your mind can either make or break you on the golf course. Golf requires you to be relaxed as much as possible and flexibility can benefit your golf swing, which can be accomplished through yoga.

If you search hard enough, there are opportunities available to play golf by hitting golf balls onto a screen with a visual of real life holes. Even just temporarily, it can make you feel like you are playing the actual holes and it can provide you with an actual score in the process.

7. Work on your grip wherever possible

One of the most important things in golf, if not the most important thing in golf is the golf grip. The way you hold a golf grip can influence the way you swing. There are golf grip models available for purchase that you can use and hold anywhere you like. Having the proper grip enhances your chances of success.

8. Practice in the mirror

Full length mirrors can become quite an asset. Making all kinds of slow motion swings in front of a mirror can provide you with instant feedback. The visual of your own golf swing itself, can allow you to make the proper adjustments, that can only benefit your swing.

9. Swing with weighted clubs

Weighted clubs can help you improve in various ways. It can improve your timing and the way in which you swing a golf club. Your body must remember how to swing correctly, and weighted clubs can attest to that. Swinging a weighted club also allows you to be more consistent.

10. Find an indoor driving range

One of the main priorities in the winter is to escape the cold. Practicing indoors, in a closed off area can keep you warm and help you avoid bad weather and tough conditions. Although indoor driving ranges mostly require hitting in a net at short distances, maintaining a feel of your golf swing is a must. It'll help in your goal to improve your golf game this winter.
