Big changes for the City Tour in 2016

By Travis Richardson

2016 marks the second year of the City Tour presented by Nextgengolf. The first year was a rousing success, and we are ready to keep it going. We have a new logo and a new purpose as we look ahead to what the future has in store for the exclusive tournament offering for 18-34 year olds.

Our initial launch in 2015 was 13 cities, and we're excited to rev up with expansion into at least 10 more cities including Kansas City, Phoenix, Seattle, and Orlando (to name a few) in 2016.

In addition to the expansion, here a few more of the key highlights for what you should expect in your city, as well as details on the 2016 City Tour National Championship location announcement.

New Logo

What do you think of our new logo? After testing a few ideas the past summer we spent the winter months designing something to encompass everything the City Tour represents!

New formats

We have heard you loud and clear. Many people asked us about providing a scramble format in addition to the best-ball format. Well, here it is for 2016. Teams of up to 6 players will have the opportunity to sign up for the 2 person best-ball or 2 person scramble format before each event. The top two pairs will generate the team score, giving teams the opportunity to earn qualifying points to qualify for the City Championship in September.

If you want to play best-ball or you want to play scramble, it’s totally up to you. We want all players to have the chance to choose how you want to participate and meet new 18-34 year old golfers in your city.

New Sponsors / New Prizes

We are excited to have new City Tour sponsors for the 2016 season. More to come over the next couple months as we announce these new partnerships publicly, but with these new relationships players will receive more tee gifts, discounts on some of the best apparel and equipment, and new prizes for top finishers at the 100 City Tour regional qualifiers in both formats. Beyond trophies, players will have the ability to win gift cards from our title sponsors and continue stepping up their golf game.
