Indoor Golf: 5 Places to Play Around Detroit

By Kris Hart

Indoor golf is becoming more popular every year and its especially important in Detroit with the colder temperatures.  If you want to enjoy some beers while getting some swings in, if the weather isn't cooperating, or you just don't feel like heading to the course it's nice to have the option to play some indoor golf around the greater Detroit area.  Below are a few of the best places to get some swings in.

1) Carl's Golfland

1976 S Telegraph Rd, Bloomfield Twp, MI 48302

Carl’s Golfland was the first practice facility in North America to become a TrackMan Range. With this technology, all shots from all bays can be viewed on a smartphone. Additionally, you can track your actual yardage when the range ball is in “Range Ball” mode but the system will also adjust your numbers to normalized numbers in “Premium Ball” mode. Check out more on their site and watch the videos of how Carl’s is one of the most technologically forward indoor options.

2) Topgolf Swing Suite - MGM Grand

1777 3rd Ave, Detroit, MI 48226

Topgolf Swing Suites are around the country held at high-end locations like the MGM Grand. Similar to the full experience at Topgolf facilities, Swing Suites offer a full array of food along with hitting bays placed in comfy lounge areas. Walk-in options are available as well as large group reservations. Need a place to take friends for happy hour? Topgolf Swing Suite offers a great option.

3) Oasis Golf Dome

39500 Five Mile Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170

Oasis Golf Dome has 42 hitting bays with Toptracer Range technology. Golfers can see their distance, ball speed, launch angle, and much more and also play virtual rounds. There are bays available from $20 to $35 per hour depending on if you elect to have a Toptracer bay or a traditional bay. Oasis has a PGA Professional on staff for lessons and also has a VIP Value Card for frequent visitors.

4) Swingtek Golf Academy

1640 Stephenson Hwy, Troy, MI 48083

Golftek Detroit

Swingtek offers coaching and instruction but also has simulator tee times, leagues, and memberships available. They use V1Golf software and 3D motion vests to measure all aspects of your swing. There is also a 900 square foot putting area with detailed analysis. If you haven’t had your putting stroke analyzed before, this is a great way to learn how you can improve one of the most important facets of the game.

5) Indoor Club of Michigan

18050 15 Mile Rd, Fraser, MI 48026

It’s all in the name for this one. Located in Fraser, MI Indoor Golf has 6 simulators (2 Trackman and 4 Golfblaster) and a netted driving range. Trackman simulators run $60 per hour and Golfblaster runs at $40 on the weekends. Buckets run from $5-$10
