There's often the debate of "what sport produces the best golfers?". Typically, the consensus amongst people would be baseball players; especially pitchers who have the luxury of not playing every game. To see if this argument carries weight, we dug up a list of the best golfers in the MLB. Did we miss any? Shoot us a tweet.
Justin Verlander
When thinking of the best golfers in the MLB, Houston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander certainly comes to mind. The former MVP and Cy Young award winner has been seen on the golf course quite a bit and prides himself on being a 4-handicap.
Joe Mauer
The next golfer on our list is Twins first baseman, Joe Mauer. Joe is known for swinging a consistent bat on the diamond (and a strong advocate for Head and Shoulders). What most don’t know is that he has a solid golf game, too. Mauer is rumored to be an 11 handicap.

Ian Kinsler
Detroit Tigers second baseman, Ian Kinsler, may be on the decline in his baseball career but that only means the beginning of his golf career. Rumor has it that Kinsler mailed-it-in (so to speak) so he could rush to the course after the last game of the regular season to work on his golf swing. 4 handicap.
Adam Wainwright
Adam Wainwright made it very clear in the beginning of his career that he wanted to play for the Atlanta Braves. You would think it was because he wanted to be on a championship caliber team. However, he said it was because he wanted to be a part of the greatest group of golfing pitchers of all time. A short minor league stint allowed him to shadow John Smoltz, Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux. He now sits at a 3.7 handicap. Stud.
Kyle Lohse
Kyle Lohse, pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, considers himself to be one of the best golfers in the MLB. He claims that while he was a member of the Cardinals he would beat up on teammate Adam Wainwright on the links. Being a self-proclaimed 0.5 handicap there very well could be merit to that statement.
Honorable Mention
Matt Cain
Matt Cain aka “Big Daddy” has just recently hung up the cleats once and for all. But could he possibly be putting on a new pair of spikes? In the past, the former all star has been seen hitting 300+ yard blasts with Dustin Johnson from home plate into McCovey's Cove. He'll have plenty of time to work on his long drives at some of the great courses around the Bay Area.
