5 Hour Energy Fuels Win at New England Regional 2

By mahesh

With a USGA sectional title, 4 club championships, and a stellar track record as a two-year golf captain at Trinity College, Babson MBA first-year Josh Biren is one of the more decorated players in the NCCGA. After bogeying his first hole and driving a 150-yard duck hook pop up into a pond en route to tripling his second hole, Josh knocked back a 5-hour energy to birdie 5 of the next 16 holes to fire a stellar first round 75 which put him in the lead.

Nobody was more thrilled to have Josh in the field than Babson MBA Club President and CollegeGolfPass ambassador Eric Sedransk. Eric put in a lot of leg work getting the Babson MBA team organized and ready to compete this fall, and was excited to have Josh--the team's new secret weapon--on display at Cold Spring Country Club. Eric was playing along side Josh and after Josh's unfortunate pop up on the second hole he gave him a glare as if to say "Are you kidding me! Weren't you supposed to be a varsity college golfer?", which was the perfect kick (along with a second 5 hour on the back nine) to wake up the sleeping giant that just needed some extra B12 to get him going after a long evening the night prior!

Unfortunately we don't have the look Eric gave Josh on the second hole on camera, but if you reverse his big grin while proudly holding the second place team trophy after the second round, you can conjure up something close to it in. Josh went on to fire a solid second round 77 (and yes, he did consume front and back nine 5 hour energies, again) which gave him the individual medalist title by a three-stroke margin over Joe Dechirico who led the effort for the first place Providence Friars Club Golf Team that will be representing the New England Region at the NCCGA National Championship in Myrtle Beach (#RoadtoMyrtle).
