Great Lakes to Produce "Great" Club Golf This Fall

By Austin Dillard

Making its debut this semester, the Great Lakes Region is composed of a number of seasoned teams, as well as few teams making their first NCCGA appearance.

Coming from the Central Region, Wisconsin is looking to make a return trip to Nationals, while Purdue and Notre Dame are looking to build off strong spring seasons. Several new teams are also looking to make their mark in their first NCCGA season, highlighted by Marquette University and Michigan Tech.

Thanks to the high amount of new talent, predicting the outcome of the regional tournaments is a shot in the dark. Wisconsin returns several key components of its Nationals team, while inheriting a few promising newcomers. Purdue and Notre Dame have certainly added pieces that will make a trip to Nationals a true possibility.

Ultimately, I believe these three teams are the preseason favorites to win the region. As for my sleeper, I think Marquette could be in contention when it’s all said and done. It all gets started on September 21 at Green Garden C.C. in Frankfort, IL.
