NCCGA Week 6 Preview

Seven different regions tee it up Saturday and Sunday in the second to last tournament weekend of the Fall 2017 NCCGA season. With all five zones still up for grabs, there will certianly be a lot of attention paid on the regional scores over the next two week.  We look forward to seeing who will be competing on December 2nd and 3rd. 

The following 14 teams have already secured a spot in the #PartyAtPaiute

Georgia (Defending Champs), Mizzou, Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Yale, Providence, Niagara, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Tulsa, Villanova, Baylor and Minnesota!


North Carolina Region

UNCW rolled to victory during the first regional tournament, led by a 71-82 effort from Joey Funderburg. Four more scores at 160 or better gave the Seahawks a 12 shot win over Wake Forest. This weekends tournament will be Hosted at Carolina National Golf Club, where five teams still have realistic hope to make it to Vegas.

Northwest Region

The Northwest Region travels to Portland, Oregon this weekend. Oregon enters the weekend fresh off an 81 shot victory. C.J Sitton was the Medalist after an impressive 82-66 effort. The Ducks hold the #3 spot in Zone #1.

Ohio Valley Region

Ohio State outlasted the large field in Regional #1, five strokes ahead of Miami of Ohio and nine ahead of Ohio. Paul DiFranco (Miami) claimed medalist honors with a 73-70 finish. Five Ohio Valley teams sit inside the top 80 in the NCCGA rankings heading into the weekend.

Pacific Region

Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo rolled to a 43 shot victory over Stanford in the first regional tournament two weekends back. It was the first tournament the club competed in and gave them NCCGA team of the week honors along with the #24 ranking in the country.

Southeast Region

South Carolina returned to their old ways, winning the first regional by 13 strokes over GAA Myrtle Beach. John Weiss led the team with a 74-73 effort. South Carolina enters the weekend as the #29 ranked team in the NCCGA.

South Region

The loaded South Region will tee it up for the second time this semester. Defending National Champion Georgia outlasted Alabama during the first tournament, winning by one shot. Auburn also finished just three shots behind the Bulldogs. Heading into weekend six teams sit inside the top 60 of the national rankings. Georgia will get its last tournament practice in before going for the “three-peat” in Sin City.

South Florida Region

UCF topped Keiser by 11 shots during the first regional tournament, led by Daniel Robinson who lapped the field by 10 shots with a two day score of 143 (71-72). UCF and Keiser enter the weekend as the 19th and 37th ranked teams in the NCCGA, respectively.
