Everyone can use a little golf help

This week, Club Golf Academy is here to look into an interesting aspect of the golf industry. Technology has become more infused into the game we all love. I thought it would be a good time to discuss when it is legal to take advantage of the new devices. I wanted to cover the a rule in a more general sense instead of focusing on a particular rule. How can we increase pace of play and what does each player need to do to improve it?

Fundraising is often the biggest obstacle for a team to compete in the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA). In order to help teams around the country, we have been hard at work coming up with new ways for teams to fundraise on campus and in the local community. I previously wrote about several ways that clubs can utilize different forms of golf fundraisers. Be sure to check out all the ways you can help raise money and awareness for your team.

When golfers think of hot-spots around the country, Houston golf often gets over looked. Houston, however, has more to offer than you think, especially for Millennial golfers. It is amazing to me how many people want to work in the golf industry. Given the passion behind the sport, it is not too surprising, but each year I attend the PGA Merchandise Show down in Orlando, Florida, and am shocked at how many golf companies (or maybe a better term, “golf concepts”) exist. If you ask a college student to rank the social media sites they use most often, LinkedIn would most likely fall outside the Top 5. That should not be the case for college students looking to one day enter the workforce. LinkedIn's ability to help you network and feature your resume publicly should be used by each and every student hoping to get their name out.

On July 9, Chad Dailey, the Associate Golf Professional at the Bayside Golf Resort, sustained a serious brain injury while conducting a children's golf clinic. After hospitalization and numerous tests, the doctors are still at a loss to determine the reason for Chad's continuing seizures and his prognosis is uncertain. For the foreseeable future, Chad is unable to work, drive or exert himself and this, along with the cost of medical care, has led to a difficult financial situation for Chad, his wife Carrie, and their two young children.

In partnership with the Testicular Cancer Foundation, Nextgengolf and the NCCGA will donate $1 for every tweet or Instagram post with the hashtag #GolfStache. Testicular cancer is a curable disease and is the most common cancer among men ages 15 to 35.
