Golf Is Hard In Every Way Possible

By Golf2020Ambassador

Golf is hard in every way possible. If you don’t believe me, I have a simple test for you: put your ball about 20 yards from the green and pick one clear shot to hit. 60 degree wedge flop shot, 7 iron bump-and-run, putt it with your 3 wood or roll it with your putter. There is no one perfect shot, because they can all have the same end result.

This rings true for any golf shot; there are myriad ways to approach every shot, and no one way is the right way. Unless you’re buried in the Road Bunker on hole 17 at St. Andrews, then you just hit and hope. Ask any pro why he or she thinks golf is hard. The consensus will be picking one shot and convincing yourself that is the best shot you can hit given the circumstances.

I know this answer is true because I have asked this question of my uncle, a PGA Professional at Quogue Field Club on Long Island. Another pro I have talked to said that golf is played within the 5 inches between the ears, and there is no doubt of that. More golfers today struggle with the mental than the physical game, because every hole on every course presents a new challenge to overcome. Old Man Par is creative, and he will do everything in his power to make you wish you had never picked up a club. But that is why #GOLFIS so challenging.
