On November 16-17th at the NCCGA Fall 2019 National Championship, Clemson University won for the 2nd straight semester setting an all-time Nationals team record score of (733). The Tigers are the third team in NCCGA history to win back-to-back Championships. After the tournament I spent a few minutes with the team to understand why their squad has been so successful. Professional Golf Management (PGM) Students are the future of the golf industry. Given Nextgengolf is now part of the PGA of America family, it’s important that all PGM students know that NCCGA Club Golf is an option for them and understand why it is important that PGM students play collegiate club golf. Here are 4 reasons why every PGM student should consider playing collegiate club golf.

Playing golf at your dream school, especially if you are looking to play DI college golf is very difficult. The fact is, over 93% of high school golfers will not play varsity college golf at any level. If you are a senior in high school or current college student trying to walk-on the varsity golf team, playing in competitive tournaments gives you your best chance.

Getting an internship in the golf industry is difficult. There are tens of thousands of college students who love golf and want to work in the game. As the CEO of Nextgengolf, it was alarming to me that many students were sending me emails in April, May, and June seeking a summer internship. It’s okay to procrastinate sometimes, but when you are seeking highly competitive jobs or internships timing is key, so I put together this list of golf companies that hire interns.

The NCCGA has been rapidly growing over the last few years and helping thousands of college students get out on the course. Our mission is to ensure every college student golfer has a place to play golf while in school. The foundation to a great club golf team is a strong leader and club president for the team. The good news is that big schools like Ole Miss, Western Kentucky, Navy, Airforce, Marshall, Temple, University of Washington, UNC Charlotte, Utah, Princeton, Kansas State, and St. Johns all recently got new leaders who are working on forming clubs on their campus. Unfortunately, the schools below do not have club golf leaders or teams on campus. Do you know any friends on these campuses that might want to play club golf?

The NCCGA just wrapped up the spring regular season and we are happy to present a new feature to our platform showcasing conference rankings for college golf club teams.

The pinnacle of each club golf season is the NCCGA National Championship. It's where the top club golf teams and individuals from all across the country meet to determine a champion. The Spring 2016 Championship will be hosted at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.

First off, Happy April! For many of our NCCGA seniors, graduation is right around the corner. I’m sure you have started the process of looking for jobs. Many websites and blog articles are written each year about the Do’s and Don’ts of how to get a job. Travis Richardson even wrote an article back in December about using LinkedIn to find a career in golf. There are some amazing golf companies to work for such as, PGA Tour, AJGA, Golf Channel, and PGA of America to name a few. We feature as many golf jobs as we can on our job board, too.

Every week students reach out to the NCCGA and are relieved to find that there is club golf at their school, and they do not have to be disappointed if they did not get an athletic scholarship. The fact is that getting a scholarship is not easy to do. Since golf teams are very small and golf is not a financial asset to a college, golf scholarships are hard to come by. We put together the list of resources below that can provide a deeper context and consultation about getting a golf scholarship.

One of the best parts of my job is working with club presidents to help them grow and improve their teams. An interesting trend I continue to hear is that Presidents are beginning to collaborate with one another (Virginia Tech and UVA already compete in the Commonwealth Cup) and have their own Ryder Cup style tournaments. I had the chance to interview UGA's President Richard Hardeman about a "Peach Cup" event they recently competed in against their rival Georgia Tech.

With students settling back into campus and classes starting, college golfers are frequently hitting the links with their CGPs across the country. Although we've expanded a lot over the past year in broadening our course network, we love sticking to our Boston roots and are gearing up for our 2013 Fall Collegiate Open at Putterham Meadows in Brookline, MA.

As many of you know, we've been working with the Deutsche Bank Championship to promote their college ticket sales for the past two events. In a fun effort to build awareness around the special promotion, a dozen of CGP's most faithful were rocking orange #CollegeGolfBoys shirts on Monday's final round of this year's second FedEx cup event.
