Where college students go for golf

This will be the 9^th straight NCCGA National Championship I have competed in or helped run, so I speak from experience when I say this will be the largest tournament to date. Over the last 4 years, it has been great to see the growth of the organization as a whole, but also see the National Championship grow from 96 players at Bryan Park Golf Course in the fall of 2010, to 240 players at Dancing Rabbit next month.

Nine more college golf teams locked in bids on the #RoadToRabbit this past weekend.

If you type in college golf on google, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Golfweek is one of the first websites to appear. Golfweek has been golf's authoritative source for college golf over the past decade and has been covering the NCCGA closely.

The Providence College club golf team locked up their bid to nationals with a win in New Britain, Connecticut and is officially on the #RoadtoRabbit.

This past weekend, the Pitt Club Golf team qualified for the NCCGA National Championship for the fourth straight time.

The club golf season has officially passed its midway point and is now moving into its final three weeks. As NCCGA players around the nation prepare for the second Regional Tournaments, the NCCGA National Championship picture is starting to take shape.

For the second straight week in college golf, a team has sealed a bid to the NCCGA National Championship.

The University of Wisconsin is headed to Dancing Rabbit Golf Club on Nov. 15-16 representing the North Region after winning both regional tournaments over the past month.

The Texas Region is one of the most competitive in the country. The region has quickly grown and it now includes 10 teams. Regional Tournament 1, played at Cross Timbers Golf Course in Azle, Texas, lived up to the hype. Defending National Champions Baylor were only able to come up with a 3rd place finish. Led by Carson Stepler, firing (-3) for the weekend, UT Austin was able to secure the 1st place finish. The other team to finish ahead of Baylor: Golf Academy of America - Dallas.

Over the course of the past weekend, the Providence College golf team continued to impress by shooting the lowest scores out of any team in the country. That's right. In the country. Now ranked at #10 by the NCCGA

The non-varsity golf season is a long one. So when a team accomplishes a feat like qualifying for the NCCGA National Championship, a celebration is in order.

Thomas Byrne is a senior at the University of Miami (OH), serving as the President of the school's Club Golf team as well as an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity on campus. Byrne said being a member of both has been great because he gets the best of both worlds.

The non-varsity golf campaign is set to begin its third week of play this weekend.

The second weekend of college golf action around the nation was an exciting one, and with the results in, the NCCGA National Championship qualifying picture is starting to take shape.
