Where college students go for golf

With students settling back into campus and classes starting, college golfers are frequently hitting the links with their CGPs across the country. Although we've expanded a lot over the past year in broadening our course network, we love sticking to our Boston roots and are gearing up for our 2013 Fall Collegiate Open at Putterham Meadows in Brookline, MA.

Making its debut this semester, the Great Lakes Region is composed of a number of seasoned teams, as well as few teams making their first NCCGA appearance.

Hello from the Atlantic Region, folks.

On behalf of all the Presidents and team members, we are ready for an exciting season in the Atlantic Region, culminating with a trip for one or more of our teams to Nationals at the Barefoot Resort.

The NCCGA is a member's first organization, and one issue teams constantly run into is raising funds to compete. To mitigate such challenges, we've created a fun way for your team to raise money, advertise, and find new golfers.

As many of you know, we've been working with the Deutsche Bank Championship to promote their college ticket sales for the past two events. In a fun effort to build awareness around the special promotion, a dozen of CGP's most faithful were rocking orange #CollegeGolfBoys shirts on Monday's final round of this year's second FedEx cup event.

The “Race for the FedEx Cup” has officially begun boys and girls! If you thought the first playoff event of the 2013 season was going to be a real sleeper, then WAKE UP, because you’re in for a heap of fun and adventure!

We capped off the CGP Summer Tour with a Ryder Cup-style match play event. Team USA represented our country patriotically yesterday at Triggs Memorial, delivering an impressive win. Perhaps the US Women--who lost to 18-10 in the Solheim Cup, the women's equivalent to the Ryder Cup Event--could have used our help!

Whoever came up with the idea of giving college kids three months of a break from school was a genius; it’s just the right amount of time for me to enjoy a little freedom from going to class and just enough time for me to miss the ‘fellas’ back in Blacksburg, Virginia. With that in mind, it’s that time of year again and the last time for this guy to gear up for fall semester! As the summer comes to an end and that last day of work or summer internship approaches, it’s time to start getting pumped up for the upcoming NCCGA season!

Golf fundraising exceeds billions of dollars every year, and we wanted to share a few easy ways you can get a few extra dollars for your club golf team.

CGP began in the wonderful city of Boston, a city ripe with more colleges than any other other in the nation. In addition to schools, there is a wide array of courses from the rocky shores of Cape Cod to the Autumn foliage that lines most courses in Central and Western Mass.

Less than three weeks removed from Phil’s victory at Muirfield, it's time to gear up for what many consider the redheaded stepchild of all major championships, the PGA Championship. We’re going to look at the events leading up to this week at Oak Hill and what to expect through Sunday evening.

When intramural coordinators and campus recreation departments on college campuses are planning out the schedule for the year, golf is typically not top of mind. Finding a local golf course, transportation, affordability, learning barriers and a structured program prevents golf from being offered.

Scores were low at the CGP Boston invitational with over half of the groups shooting in the 70s. Scoring conditions were good as the rain held off at Newton Commonwealth Golf Course--a short, hilly, and tricky course--and one of the most accessible to the Boston area (just off exit 17 if you are heading West on the Pike out of Boston).
