Where college students go for golf

The first weekend of the NCCGA season featured two tournaments, a combined event in North and South Florida as well as Twin Cities. The University of Florida and University of Nebraska - Lincoln took victories and are slowly paving their paths towards Nationals bids at the end of the season. 

With the Fall 2019 NCCGA season beginning this weekend, it's time to reveal the preseason top 25. These rankings are voted on by the NCCGA Student Ambassadors based on performance from last season and how the team looks headed into the new season.

Professional Golf Management (PGM) Students are the future of the golf industry. Given Nextgengolf is now part of the PGA of America family, it’s important that all PGM students know that NCCGA Club Golf is an option for them and understand why it is important that PGM students play collegiate club golf. Here are 4 reasons why every PGM student should consider playing collegiate club golf.

Playing golf at your dream school, especially if you are looking to play DI college golf is very difficult. The fact is, over 93% of high school golfers will not play varsity college golf at any level. If you are a senior in high school or current college student trying to walk-on the varsity golf team, playing in competitive tournaments gives you your best chance.

The average college golf team only has about 10 players on the roster. This doesn't leave a lot of space for many players, and often forces some excellent and passionate golfers to step aside from the game they love. For these students, club golf is a great option to not only continue playing golf, but compete on a regional and national scale. 

The NCCGA and Nextgengolf are happy to announce that we will be headed to the great state of Oklahoma for Fall 2019 Nationals! Both the Invitational and Championship will take place November 15-17th, so be sure to mark your calendars. This edition of Nationals will be a nice change of pace from recent years and a new, unique experience for NCCGA players. 

It was another fantastic edition of NCCGA Nationals this past weekend with three of the best courses in tournament history. Great finishes took place at both the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, IN and The Trophy Club in Lebanon, IN. The spring NCCGA National Championship is taking place in the state of Indiana. The Birck Boilermaker Complex will be the host, and the field has universities from everywhere in the United States, but there are a few colleges in the field that may have a little bit of home field advantage.

NCCGA Nationals heads back to Indiana April 26-28 for the 2nd time, with 3 exciting courses waiting for over 300 of the best club golfers from around the country. The Birck Boilermaker Complex on the campus of Purdue University will host the National Championship on it's Pete Dye masterpieces Kampen and Ackerman-Allen. The National Invitational will be played down the road at The Trophy Club, a highly regarded semi-private Indianapolis area golf club. 

The second weekend of the 2019 Spring Break Open kicked off on Saturday, March 16th on the Heathland course at Legends Golf Resort. It was a bit windy but it was another great day to be in Myrtle Beach, SC. With some solid play during round one, we had Team Of Moosh and Men take the round one lead by three shots over the Myrtle Beach Agents and Iowa Club Golf.

It was a warm, sunny weekend in Myrtle Beach for the Nextgengolf Spring Break Open! 88 players convened at the Legends Golf Resort to play in this 2-man best ball format event, with Robert Morris University taking first place. See full leaderboard from week 1. 

Like most golfers, I didn't have the opportunity to play varsity golf right out of high school. I was a multi-sport athlete and didn’t dedicate enough time to golf. I made the decision to attend college strictly for academic purposes without any intention of playing golf.

The NCCGA season is finally here, which means it's time to reveal the preseason rankings! There are a lot of familiar names in the top half of the leaderboard, but there are a few new squads that earned a spot in the top 25. 

As we all know, a standard round of golf can take up most of your day. Thankfully, the USGA has established several new rules in order to quicken pace of play. Here is how you can use the new rules (and some of the old ones) to speed up pace of play in 2019.
