Top 5 NCCGA Club Golf Team Performances in 2016

Top 5 NCCGA Club Golf Team Performances in 2016

By Travis Richardson

Earlier we took a look at the Top 15 college golf tournament rounds from the NCCGA season. While the numbers were impressive, something was missing. NCCGA tournaments aren't about individual scores, they are ultimately about the team's score. One hot individual performance doesn't necessarily mean the team comes out victorious. A team victory requires five scores, and teammates picking each other up when a bad round happens.

Let's a take a look at the Top 5 NCCGA team scores from 2016 (Spring and Fall season), including a mind-boggling performance in the Southeast Region.

No Club Golf Team = No Problem for Bradley Student

No Club Golf Team = No Problem for Bradley Student

Asa college student, the end of summer can be bitter-sweet. It means leaving your summer job and hometown friends for college dorms and 8 am classes. But for those playing college golf, the end of summer also means a chance to play club golf with friends and teammates that you haven’t seen all summer.

How Club Golf Shaped My College Career

How Club Golf Shaped My College Career

By Brian Eidelbus

A recent post was made on the Nextgengolf blog by Corey Stamper, who transferred from playing club golf team at a large state university to a varsity team at a much smaller college. My situation was exactly the opposite; I went from a Division II golf program to Florida State University’s club golf team.

5 Ways to Grow Your Club Golf Team

5 Ways to Grow Your Club Golf Team

By Travis Richardson

One of the most important aspects of building a club golf team, and maintaining it, is a solid recruiting plan. Even if you have the best college golf club team in the nation, eventually the players will graduate and you don't want to be standing there with an empty cupboard. Even if you attend a massive school, failing to spread awareness to the student body will prevent your club from growing beyond a few people.

Does your school have club golf?

6 Fundraising Ideas for Your Club Golf Team

6 Fundraising Ideas for Your Club Golf Team

By Mike Kersys

Here at the NCCGA we hear all kinds of challenges that club golf teams face each season. One of the most common problems we hear about semester after semester is funding. Many teams don't receive funding support from the school, or only receive a small amount, leaving the team to foot the rest of the bill. It can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be.

I know fundraising can be a huge pain, but we have seen and heard all kinds of great ideas from teams around the country. These ideas have ranged from extremely simple to execute, to moderately difficult (but finacially worth it). These fundraisers do a great job of bringing in money to support the club's expenses, but are also fun to do as a team. After all, you can’t spell fundraiser without FUN (corny joke, I know).

Here are 6 fundraiser ideas we've heard from club golf teams across the country:

Then I found the club golf team on campus

By Sam Oleksak

The summer of 2012 felt like the end of my golf career. Growing up, I spent every summer on Cape Cod, and a lot of time around golf courses. I began playing junior golf as a six year old in New Seabury Country Club’s Junior Golf Program. When I turned 12, I started playing in the Cape Cod Junior Golf Association, which is the Cape Cod chapter of the Read More

Former Club Golf President Makes Transition to City Tour

By Ethan Zimman

Did you know that the impetus for the City Tour was to create additional golfing opportunities for college kids after graduation? In fact, one of the best examples of the natural transition (and opportunity) from NCCGA to the City Tour is our very own Houston City Tour Leader Kevin Hamori. Kevin was part of the the Ohio State University club golf team and even served as the NCCGA President during the Spring and Fall 2013 seasons.

#ClubGolf Dominated by Towson in March

#ClubGolf Dominated by Towson in March

By Nextgengolf

The #ClubGolf campaign got kicked off the first weekend in March. One team has been dominating the competition since the start. Congratulations to Towson University Club Golf Team for taking home this season's first win! #Clubgolf was started last year by the NCCGA to promote the club golf at the college level for players who want to play competitive golf, but don't have the time or skill for varsity. The campaign itself uses all social media mediums such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for all entries. Teams receive points based on how many posts they make and the creativity of those posts.
